Regular Road Magazine Project S4 followers will recall me raving about the TAROX track day brake kit we fitted earlier this year. TAROX say: “This package will improve the whole feel of your brakes offering a much more positive pedal, while offering more sustained braking when used hard over a period of time.” And we concur… wholeheartedly. It’s been just brilliant in road use to date. Much improved stopping distance, no fade, better pedal feel and much increased braking confidence. We’ve not had a chance to test them at full tilt on track yet, as there are still a few more parts we want to fit suspension-wise (see following posts) and a full alignment and set up to do with our top tuning pals, NUR Motorsport (http://nur-motorsport.co.uk/). That will come soon, so stay tuned.
One slight problem we had was TAROX sent the vented rear discs, which were too large for the standard rear calipers, but they’ve swiftly solved this, sending us a set of grooved, solid rear, heat-treated, hand-finished 256 x 22 mm discs (£202 inc VAT), which we are about to fit, pictured above. We’re going up to our pal, Dave Green at Henstead Motorsport (http://www.henstead-motorsport.co.uk/) later this month, to fit them and re-bleed the brake system… and will report back on their influence on Project S4 very soon.
